CA Blazers Volleyball Dominates Barbourville HS 3-0

10 Sep 2019 by Bruce Jung

Although the JV game did not go the Blazer’s way, the Varsity squad came away with a 3-0 sweep of the Barbourville High School girls volleyball team. The Blazers won 25-10, 25-9 and 25-10. Give the Barbourville team credit, though, as they tried their best against a young, but experienced Cumberland team. The Blazers also won their last game against a public school team, Lynn Camp High School, in a best of three set. That game was much more of a nail biter. Middle hitter, Abby Diehl, has been absent, but her teammates have really pulled through. Ella Boyd has made enormous progress and has shown amazing potential. Her arm swing is to die for. Back up setter, Kristin Mitchell, has shown excellent adaptability by moving to the MH position and registering more than one impressive block. Faith and the Greer girls continue to do their things… showing us what real Faith looks like, how Poison (Ivy) is served, and how to take another team down “River.” Much to the Blazer fans’ delight, Zoe Brown’s serves were taking the Lynn Camp Cats down town! She almost broke the single game record for consecutive serves with 10. (The record is 11 by River Greer.) Zoe had a number of aces allowing everyone plenty of opportunities to learn the Blazer’s ace dance. Keep up the good work, ladies!
